1811 Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue
Author Last Post
Thanks Josh. Besides being a great resource, it looks like a lot of fun!
For anyone that wants to know how people cursed/name-called in the 18th and 19th century, Francis Grose's "1811 Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue" is a fantastic resource. There is a lot of "sailor slang" in it as well.

Even just for the entertainment value, it's well worth taking a look at.

Some of the words you will learn:

Cheese Toasters
Buck Fitch
Carbuncle Face
Ham Cases
Huckle-my-buff
Arsy Yarsey
