Hi, Tonya:
I've been meaning to do this for some time now, but welcome to HWA from another new member with Massachusetts' ties. I grew up in Lowell and spent most of my life in various parts of New England before moving to Albuquerque, N.M., six years ago. Good luck with your new novel!

Hello Tonya nice to meet you here.
I also started out writing SF. My handful of short stories were published more than 20 years ago. I moved on to history and historical fiction reading, researching and writing. I wrote several articles on ancient Egyptian history for a now-defunct tourism website (many of those articles however are still around the Internet). I recently had a short historical fiction story published in an indie press anthology and I have several other short stories in the works, along with novels. I plan this year to be seriously published.

Nice to meet you Tonya. Welcome to HWA. Glad to hear we have more authors setting thrillers, mysteries, etc. in historical settings. I'm currently working on a historical paranormal. Like you, I love historical settings and the depth they can add to other genre work.

Hi everyone!
I just joined today. I'm excited to find to be a part of HWA. I started out writing SF and then started writing thrillers and mysteries. My latest novel that I'm getting ready to send out to editors is a young adult historical story. When I told my first reader that I had branded myself as a mystery writer she laughed and pointed out to me that all my published short stories were historical. I have come to realize I love writing historical stories.
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone!
Tonya
